Her job is done.
So now she rests.
A broodmare is a female horse that is kept for the task of breeding. Though broodmares produce foals for a variety of reasons, they share one thing in common: they give themselves - mind, body, & spirit - to the act of creation, offering on-going life to their respective breed.
And so, in their retirement, we honor them with a gift of sanctuary
Abiding Sunday is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is to provide retirement & sanctuary to broodmares regardless of their breed, age, or foaling history. Here the mares receive attentive care a minimum of twice daily, care that includes making sure they have endless access to hay, fresh water, shelter, camaraderie, and, above all, rest from the tasks of breeding.
We know the worth of these special mares. We see their hearts & spirits, and we offer them what is theirs to have - a never-ending day of rest.
Our Mission
To acknowledge and honor the contributions equine mothers have made, regardless of age, breed, or discipline, by providing them with complete care, rest, and retirement within a sanctuary setting.
Our Vision
To embolden and empower human mothers and potential mothers to take control of their mental and emotional well-being by partnering with retired broodmares in transformative interactions within the safe and protected environment of the sanctuary.

They created life.
They nurtured life.
They are Moa.
Mother.
And now, they are offered a never-ending day of rest.
An abiding Sunday.
